The form of the living and pool area is defined by  four main glued laminated timber ribs that take their shape from the structural forces acting on them. These main rips spring from pylons at ground level and continue to define an overhead plane height of 22 feet above the living level floor and cantilever a full 19 feet beyond the sout-western glass face to create an overhang for the drive approach area in front.  Overall, the Glu-Lam beams are 77 feet long, 3 1/2 feet deep at their deepest point, and 8 inches wide . . . Each one will weigh approx. 3300 pounds.
