Sports Venture Facility  (unbuilt)

A conceptual diagram study for a sporting venture facility.

The concept is that there is a progression through the existing hills which starts with a rise in circulation up the hills from the parking area, then reaching a plateau which has a hotel tower at its edge.  The plateau and the tower look out along an axis across the facilities of baseball & soccer/football fields with vending structures strategically placed along a path.    The axis with circulation and vending structures reinforces the concept of a tournament which culminates in a championship playoff at the focal point of the axis.  The championship field would be a convertible field (likely the first of its kind) which could be converted from a baseball field to a football or soccer field by way of the stands being on railroad-like rails and controlled by a slow-moving system of motors/gears.

Below:  Elevation of hotel tower overlooking the complex at the edge of the hill & plateau.

Right:  elevation at lower, curved/linear concept for the hotel structure.

Right:  Plan of curved/linear hotel concept with its axis toward the championship field.

The conversion of the championship field would be incorporated into a sort of party/ceremony at a certain time (say between football or soccer and baseball seasons where fans are sort-of in limbo and could use a pick-me-up or an event to get them psyched up for the next round of competitions.

Right & below:  siteplan sketches incorporating multiple fields arranged along an axis but oriented toward the championship bowl.
