Lacewood, Maple, Steel, Etched Glass

Lacewood--to touch, shimmer, the sense of floating, like falling dust specs, snowflakes, very busy, the motion of the cut grain.

Steel--ASTM-A36--hot rolled steel, the backbone of the structure . . . cantilever, capable of high stress in bending . . . Tension . . . Compression, welded and unilateral symmetry . . . But symmetry none-the-less.

Etched glass--to offset the unilateral symmetry, but be transparent . . . the 1/2" glass creates a delicate layer to the raw steel and the warm wood . . . the etchings compliment the Lacewood grain and serve to give the piece an added depth and character while throwing light at more areas of the structure.
